Death Of Berrien County Radio Show Host, Husband Was Murder-Suicide
ROYALTON TOWNSHIP, MICH. — Police say the death of morning radio show host Denise Bohn-Stewart and her husband Eric Stewart in a Royalton Township, Mich. home Tuesday morning was a murder-suicide.
State police say Eric was the shooter. They say they learned about marital issues between the couple during interviews after the incident.
Denise was shot several times in the bedroom upstairs, say police. Eric died in the basement.
Bohn-Stewart was a host on Denise & Jonny in the Morning on 98.3 The Coast. As you may remember, she previously spent several years as a reporter for WSBT 22.
“There is some indication this was planned,” said Lt. Chuck Christensen with Michigan State Police. “It hits closer to home…because you actually know the person. As human beings, nobody wants to see anybody deceased,”
Her husband worked at the Cook Nuclear Plant.
“Eric Stewart was a 28-year AEP employee,” according to a statement from Cook. “He was a Maintenance Supervisor. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by this terrible news, as well as with all of our employees. We have made grief counselors available to our employees. We’re still processing this ourselves. That’s all we have to say at this time.”
The home is in the 3100 block of Wyndwicke Drive. The couple had three young children together, and just before 7 a.m. one of those children called 911.
