Softball Bags Another Big Win
Ellie Snep threw a four-hitter and the ‘Cats bats were working as Whitko dropped Maconaquah, 12-0, Wednesday at Maconaquah in the Three Rivers Conference opener for Whitko.
Hanna Yohe doubled among her three hits and Emalee Duggins cracked four hits to pace the Whitko offense. Haley Yohe and Kennedy Krull added doubles among the 14-hit Wildcat attack.
Whitko broke open the scoreless draw in the third with four runs, then posted two in the fourth and six in the fifth to end the game.
Whitko (5-1, 1-0 TRC) will visit Central Noble Friday afternoon.
Wildcats Drop TRC Baseball Opener
Whitko lost its TRC opener Wednesday afternoon, 11-5, at Maconaquah.
The Braves mashed 11 hits, touching up Wildcat starter Tanner Gaff for eight runs on six hits and two walks in three-plus innings. Gaff has five strikeouts. Reliever Hunter Sroufe couldn’t get out of the fourth, allowing three more runs on five hits. Ethan Larason got the win for Maconaquah.
Gaff paced Whitko’s offense with a double and run scored. Tyler Reed tripled for Maconaquah, and teammates Will Feller and Larason each doubled.
Whitko (6-3, 0-1 TRC) will host Bellmont Thursday.
Zebras Trump Wildcat Tennis
Rochester handed Whitko its first loss in the TRC with a 4-1 girls tennis count Wednesday afternoon.
Morgan Keirn had the lone court win for Whitko, beating Zoe Bixler at one singles.
Scores for the matches or the other courts were not provided.
Whitko is 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in the TRC, and meet another conference foe Thursday in hosting Tippecanoe Valley.
