Firefighters Help Save Prom Night For Gibson County Teen
GIBSON COUNTY — When a fire broke out at one Hoosier family’s home, firefighters went above and beyond and tried to save more than their house.
The Gibson County Fire Department helped save a teen girl’s prom night too.
The Aregood’s home burned down Friday morning, April 22, the day before high school prom.
When Kaylor said her prom dress was inside firefighters ran back in, grabbed the dress and told the family they’d try to save it.
Firefighters took the dress to a local dry cleaner, but smoke damage had ruined it.
So the firefighters contacted a dress store that gave Kaylor Aregood a new dress.
“This is a tragic thing for the family; this is just one less thing they have to worry about,” said Justin Hyneman, Gibson County Fire Department.
“I have two girls at home so, ya know it hits ya a little bit because you know that you’re helping someone. It’s a great thing, a great feeling,” said Hyneman.
Kaylor and her date went to prom Saturday night, April 23.
Other local businesses chipped in too, providing Kaylor with dinner and a spray tan.
