Board Of Zoning Appeals Approves Variance
WARSAW — The Warsaw Board of Zoning met at 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, in order to discuss the approval of a variance requested by Frauhiger Realty LLC, who was represented in the meeting by Ashley Finney, the facility manager.
The variance requested was in reference to a plot of land located between Smith Street, Hillside Drive and Hackleman Street. This section of land has previously been zoned as residential. However, it has yet to be developed. Frauhiger Realty requested the variance because the storage warehouses they currently rent are very near capacity.
Jeff Johnson, a member of the board, raised questions concerning screening for the surrounding residences if the variance was granted. Finney responded that Frauhiger Realty was willing to invest in screening if it was the council’s decision that screening would be required, but that no screening was currently planned.
The board considered the proper screening requirement and concluded that screening on the south, west, and part of the north sides of the property would be required. With this understanding, the board granted the variance.
