NAPPANEE — Upcoming programs and events at the Nappanee Public Library will include:
Crafts For Kids At Nappanee Library
Make a colorful rain gauge for spring at the Nappanee Public Library form 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14. The project will take place in the kids’ department.
Free kids’ crafts and activities are held on the second Saturday of each month in conjunction with Nappanee’s city-wide Second Saturday events. For more information, call (574) 773-7919 or go to the website.
Nappanee Public Library Offers Tour
Did you know you could use a VHS to DVD converter or check out a portable die cut machine at the Nappanee Public Library? How about “selfie sticks” or jigsaw puzzles? There are more than books at the Library. New cardholders and those interested in learning more about the Library are invited to a guided tour of the Nappanee Public Library at 7 p.m. Monday, May 16.
In addition to discovering where to find current bestsellers, a favorite cookbook, or the daily news, participants will be introduced to many special services. These include the Library’s makerspace, online catalog, eMedia, computers and copiers for use in the library, framed original art, CDs, DVDs and many other materials for loan.
The library, located at 157 North Main Street, holds the tour the third Monday of every month and by appointment.

Book Club Discusses Travel Memoir
Read along with the “Cover to Cover Book Club” at the Nappanee Public Library. The club will meet on rom 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, to discuss “Around the World in 50 Years: My Adventure to Every Country on Earth” by Albert Podell. Goodreads describes the book as “a remarkable and meaningful tale of quiet courage, dogged persistence, undying determination, and an uncanny ability to escape from one perilous situation after another-and return with some of the most memorable, frightening, and hilarious adventure stories you have ever read.”

Nappanee Library Offers Class On Electronic Cutter
Make a small bouquet of colorful paper flowers in the Makerspace at the Nappanee Public Library on Thursday, May 19, using the “Silhouette Cameo” electronic cutter. Coveted by DIY experts and crafters, the Cameo uses small blades to cut designs in a wide array of materials. Use the flowers you create to customize scrapbook pages, add pizzazz to your next party, or brighten your home décor.
This will be a great chance for makers to learn the ins and outs of the Cameo and all of its capabilities while making an attractive finished product. The class is free and open to ages 12 and up, but participants are asked to register by May 12, by calling (574) 773-7919, or going to the events calendar at the website.
Nappanee Library Offers Bike Maintenance Workshop
Get your bike ready for summer with a new hands-on workshop offered by the Nappanee Public Library from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21. An expert from Nappanee Bicycle will lead the free class in the Library’s makerspace, The Cube. Learn basics like flat tire repair, gear mechanics, simple maintenance and general tune-up.
