Purdue’s Brown Drafted, Keeps Streak Alive
WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue extended its streak to 19 consecutive years with at least one player getting selected in the NFL Draft when cornerback Anthony Brown was picked by the Dallas Cowboys with the 189th overall pick in the sixth round Saturday.
Brown, a four-year letterwinner from Tampa, Florida, appeared in 46 games at Purdue, including 34 consecutive starts from his sophomore to senior seasons. He wrapped up his Boilermaker career with 188 total tackles, including 137 solo stops, with 1.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss. He intercepted four passes, all his senior season. Brown had three picks in a win over Nebraska last season that led to him being named the Nov. 2 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
Starting with Brian Alford, Mark Fischer and Edwin Watson in 1998, Purdue has seen 46 players get drafted over the last 19 years.
