Purvis Arrested On Meth Charges
PIERCETON — Tara L. Purvis, 30, 604 W. Catholic St., Pierceton, was arrested Thursday, April 28, on charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance. The warrants were the result of an event on April 21, when police were looking for Sterling Templeton, who was arrested that date.
Both charges against Purvis are level 6 felonies.
Court documents state on April 21, police received information Sterling Templeton, who had a valid arrest warrant for parole violation, was residing at 604 W. Catholic St. Police were told Templeton arrived at the residence and Tara L. Purvis, a cousin of Niccole Paschall was present with Paschall’s minor child. Templeton reportedly became angry that Paschall was not home with the child and took the child, telling Purvis he was going to attempt to find the mother.
Police were told he left, stating he would be gone for 15 minutes, but after 45 minutes had not returned. While police were attempting to locate Templeton, officers observed a vehicle enter the driveway. Paschall was the lone occupant of the vehicle and spoke to police about Templeton’s location.
Paschall refused to allow police to search the home.
Obtaining a search warrant for the residence, police found Purvis was also staying at the residence, along with Templeton and Paschall’s child. A search of the residence was conducted.
In Purvis’ bedroom officers found can containing a plastic bag that contained a crystal like substance that tested positive for meth, weighing more than one gram. A further search of the residence found a prescription pill bottle with Purvis’ name on the label containing a crystal like substance that tested positive for meth.
She was held on $5,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
