Altrusa Club Members To Host 2017 District Six Conference
WARSAW — Altrusa club members from Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky converged on Carmel, recently for the organization’s annual District Six Conference. Local Altrusans joined over 100 Altrusans including Immediate Past International President Ilona Kerby from Washington State at the event hosted by eight Indiana clubs.
Warsaw club members will be co-hosting the 2017 District Six Conference with the Huntington and Indiana Dunes Clubs next April at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville. It’s traditional that clubs responsible for the following year’s conference provide and provide an “invitation” to conference attendees the year prior.
Warsaw’s Martie Lennane, Susan Woodward and Sue Creighton joined members from the other two clubs and District Six Governor Chris DeVlieger in a funny beach-themed invitation as this year’s conference wound down.
Preparations are also underway for Altrusa’s 100 Anniversary, and District Six clubs will kick off the celebration at next April’s Conference. Altrusa was incorporated as National Association of Altrusa Clubs on Aug. 21, 1917 with Mamie L. Bass, Altrusa Club of Indianapolis, as the first president.
