AKRON – Akron Speedway will open its gate for the 2016 racing season this weekend.

This Saturday, May 7, gates will open at noon for Test and Tune for three hours. Registration for racing closes at 4:30 p.m. with a drivers meeting at 5. Hot Laps start at 5:30 p.m. and the official first races of the season will follow.

Pit passes at Akron are $10, and kids under 5 are just $5. General admission at Akron Speedway is $5 and kids under 5 are free.

Fees for racing entrants is $25, with kids karts just $10. Saturday’s action will be counted in the points standings. Akron Speedway is announcing that there will be a 75 percent payback for all classes except the kids karts.
