Rev. Don E. Grandlinard
Rev. Don. E. Grandlinard, 103, entered into his eternal life and the arms of his heavenly Father, early Monday, May 9, 2016, in his residence.
Don was born Aug. 30, 1912, in Adams County, to the late William C. and Ica (French) Grandlinard. He graduated from Adams County High School and then Marion College.
On June 6, 1936, in Portland, Ore., Don married Mary Kathryn Rittenhouse. Together their Wesleyan ministry took take them to the communities of Peru, Huntington, Valparaiso, Richmond, Anderson, Plymouth and Logansport. In 1976 they made Argos their retirement home and attended the Argos Wesleyan Church. She preceded him in death Feb. 1, 2004. He then married LaVerta Hammond, and they attended Plymouth Wesleyan Church.
Surviving is his wife: LaVerta Grandlinard, Argos; a son: Paul (Janet) Grandlinard, Mendon, Mich.; two daughters: Helen Louise (John) Henson, Pleasanton, Texas; Anita Mae (Gary) Berger, Plymouth; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: Glen (Beverly) Grandlinard, Lynn Grove; and Joyce (Claren) Gering, Bluffton. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Kathryn; four sisters; and five brothers.
A celebration of Don’s life and sharing of memories with his family will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 12, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth. Graveside services for Don will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, with Rev. Jerry Felts officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Plymouth.
