Warsaw Named As ‘One Of Top Places To Spend The Weekend’
WARSAW — Warsaw was named number 24 in a list of, “The 25 Best Small US Cities To Spend The Weekend.” The list was published in Thrillest, a magazine that focuses on food, drink and travel news around the U.S.
Warsaw Mayor Joseph Thallemer said the town was pleased to hear the nomination.
“I sure agree with them and we were pretty flattered to be on that list,” said Thallemer. “We love our weekends here and we have fun weekend activities for everyone.”
The article featured what Thrillest considered the most appealing parts of Warsaw and the surrounding communities for travelers around the nation. Mentioned specifically were Noa Noa Spikes Beach Grill, The Dixie Sternwheeler in North Webster, The orthopedic industry and the many area lakes and other local attractions.
Many in the community were excited about the honor, including Sheila Wieringa, Warsaw’s recreation director.
“Warsaw is a wonderful community with so much to offer,” said Wieringa. “As recreation director, it’s important to me to help the community take advantage of the area’s natural resources, providing programs such as free community paddle boarding and canoeing, fly fishing workshops, free kid’s fishing derby and free swim lessons.”
According to Thrillest, the online publication gets around 16 million unique visitors each month.
This isn’t the first time that Warsaw has received a special nomination like this. In 2010, Forbes Magazine rated Warsaw 11th on its list, The Best Small Cities To Raise A Family. In 2015, Niche rated Warsaw the 13th on the list, Best Towns To Retire. And also in 2015, Nerd Wallet rated Warsaw 5th on the list, Best Places To Start A Business In Indiana.
