Dorothy L. Gaff
Dorothy L. Gaff, 97, Roann, died at 9:50 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at her home. She was born July 8, 1918, in Roann, to John Wood and Chloie (Powell) Wright.
Dorothy married Merritt Lee Gaff in Roann on Nov. 29, 1943; he died June 27, 2013. She retired as admitting clerk for Wabash County Hospital in 1984 after 21 years. She was a member of Roann United Methodist Church, the Mayflower Society, and was very active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Dorothy loved crafting, especially rubber stamping, and was a member of the Wabash Rubber Stamping Club. She enjoyed gardening and camping.
She is survived by four children: Barbara (Steve) Williams, Plainfield; Michael (Diane) Gaff, Cross City, Fla.; Jerry Gaff, Waynesville, N.C.; and Jan Ellyn (Randy) Engledow, Silver Lake; son-in-law: Larry Smith, Cordova, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter: Dianne Smith; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, Roann, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are the Roann Covered Bridge Association or the Stockdale Mill Foundation.
