Kosciusko YMCA Celebrates Women’s Health Week
WARSAW —The Kosciusko Community YMCA is inviting all women to try their facility for free this week in honor of Women’s Health Week. Women, ages 18 and up, can participate in any group exercise, water aerobics, independent exercise and everything else the YMCA has to offer their guests through May 14. The promotion is extended to both the Parkview Warsaw and North Webster branches of the Kosciusko Community YMCA.
“We focus on health for all, but we wanted to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to come in and get healthier,” said Stacy Thomas, YMCA director of healthy living.
Thomas recommends that first timers to the YMCA check out the beginner level water aerobics classes such as Joyful Joints at 8:30 a.m. or even the Stroller Fit class at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings. On a typical week, the YMCA offers over 100 classes to participate in for every activity level.
First time guests are also encouraged to ask a staff member for a tour of the facility because it can be rather intimidating.
Along with the obvious health benefits of joining a facility like the YMCA, members and guests for the promotional period have access to two hours of free childcare while they workout.
The YMCA mission statement is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Because of this, the Kosciusko branch offers programs that not everyone is aware of. The facility has a Director of Christian Emphasis on staff for pastoral care and counsel as well as signature programs like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA.
So far this week, the YMCA has seen an increase in attendance due to the promotional event. Staff urge anyone planning on attending a class to arrive a little early because all classes are first come, first serve.
Men, don’t get discouraged, your free week isn’t far away. Men’s Health Week takes place on June 13 through June 19 and the YMCA will be extending free admission to all men 18 and older during those days.
