Silver Lake Mourns Council Member
SILVER LAKE — A small Kosciusko County community is mourning a big loss with the passing of Gale Owens last Friday morning, May 6.
Owens served as a long-time town council member, filling the position for 17 years. He wore many other hats, as well. For 21 years, Owens coached the Silver Lake Youth League. He was also a past member of the Lake View Cemetery Board and of the Silver Lake Lions Club.
“It was truly a pleasure working with Gale on the Town Council,” fellow council member Chad Miner said. “His obvious concern for our town and citizens was always unmistakable. Gale devoted himself to serving the town and the community in a variety of ways and I know that he touched many lives during his years of service. Gale will be greatly missed.”
The town of Silver Lake also released a statement on Owens’s passing:
“Gale Owens served the Town of Silver Lake for many years, his passion and devotion for our community was of great value to all of us. Gale always had a smile on his face willing to help others whenever and however he could. We will miss him greatly and consider ourselves truly blessed to have known him and to have worked with him.”
Services for Owens took place earlier today, Wednesday, May 11.
