Fort Wayne Drops Two At Home
FORT WAYNE – The TinCaps dropped both legs of Wednesday’s doubleheader with the Great Lakes Loons at Parkview Field.
In game one, Great Lakes evened the series with a 3-0 win, as starter Victor Gonzalez (W, 2-2) twirled five scoreless innings, and right-hander Marcus Crescentini (S, 4) worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning. TinCaps starter J.C. Cosme (L, 3-2) allowed one run over three innings.
The Fort Wayne offense stayed quiet in game two, as Great Lakes starter Michael Boyle (W, 2-2) tossed the first shutout of the season in the Midwest League and only surrendered two hits in a 5-0 final. Fort Wayne starter Austin Smith (L, 0-2) gave up a run in four frames.
The TinCaps (18-15), who began the day 10-3 at home, dropped their first home series of the season and saw their three-game winning streak halted.
Fort Wayne will get back to action Thursday, May 11, at West Michigan at Fifth Third Ballpark.
