Thomas J. McGuire
Thomas J. McGuire, 79, Warsaw, passed away at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born July 21, 1936 in Urbana, Ill. to Ralph James and Mary Jane (Hull) McGuire. He was united in marriage to Jean L. Anderson Feb. 29, 1960, who survives.
Thomas graduated from Champaign High School, Champaign, Ill. and then attended Danville Community College, Danville, Ill. and also Parkland, Champaign, Ill. He worked for Keefer Stuart Pharmaceutical Sales before becoming a police officer for the City of Champaign where he faithfully served for twenty-eight years from 1958–1991. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol Division and additionally served as a former Detective and member of the Department Pistol Team where he competed statewide. After his retirement from the police department, he had a business buying and selling collectible toys and antique toys. Wind-up toys were his passion and specialty.
Thomas is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Jean L. McGuire, Warsaw; two children: Pamela A. Parent, Chandler, Ariz.; and Michael J. McGuire, Eagan, Minn.; two sisters: Mary Ann Ford, Mahomet, Ill.; and Patricia Pickel, Marshalltown, Iowa; two grandchildren: Maeve O. McGuire and Miles J. McGuire both of Eagan, Minnesota. Two-step grandchildren: Brianna Parent and Shelley Parent both of Chandler, Ariz., also survive him.
Private interment services will be held in Mount Olive Cemetery, Urbana, Ill.
