Claypool Announces Spring Clean-Up Day For May
CLAYPOOL — It was a short meeting in Claypool last night, Monday, May 16, as there was relatively no one in attendance, aside the board.
Niki Miller, town president, stated at the meeting flyers had been sent for the Spring Clean-up with the town’s water bills. The clean-up day is Wednesday, May 25, on the normal trash pick-up day. Trash collection will happen per usual schedule, but will make a second trip for the bigger items that can’t be taken with regular trash collection. There are guidelines as to what cannot be picked up.
Excluded items are:
- Tires
- Wet paint
- Hazardous chemicals
- Motor oil
- Computers
- Televisions
- Long pieced of pipe and lumber that exceed more than 4-feet in length.
- Large pieces of concrete, rock or metal
- Appliances.
In other business:
- There will be a wastewater utility admin meeting Thursday, May 26, to discuss the wastewater utility project.
- There is a “swimming pool procedure.” Anyone who doesn’t know the procedure can call the clerk’s office.
- The board had a Tax Increment Finance meeting on April 26, and were approved for $10,000 for water utility, $8,000 for waste water utility and half payment for a police car of $4,500.
- The board approved to amend the salary ordinance for the Town Marshal Charles Lewallen from $45,088 to $40,000. The $5,088 will be allocated to a deputy marshal, if the need to hire one arises.
- The board approved a $1,579.65 payment to Herrman & Goetz, Inc for labor and equipment costs for a pump on the wastewater utility station.
- The board approved payment to the Indiana State Board of Accounts for the audit that was conducted last year. The amounts are: $8,685 from the water utility and $8,279 from the wastewater utility.
- The board agreed to pay $521.10 for labor and travel to BL Anderson for an affluent flow meter.
- The board approved and signed an engineer service agreement with Jones & Henry for the remainder of the year for a wastewater utility project. The amount of the project is to not exceed $15,000 without prior agreement.
- The board approved an $827 payment for an element for sludge testing.
- Pat Warner, clerk/treasurer, was approved for an overnight stay on Tuesday, June 7, for SBoA training.
- Lewallen was approved for the amount $650 for a duty weapon.
The next town meeting is 7 p.m. Monday, June 20.
