Wawasee Sports Wrap: May 21
Varsity Baseball
The Wawasee varsity baseball team picked up a win Saturday afternoon. The Warriors traveled to LaGrange to take on potential sectional opponent Lakeland. The visitors left with a 12-2 win.
A 3-2 contest was blown wide-open by the Warriors in the top of the seventh as Wawasee tacked on nine runs to insure the victory.
Rieder Hunley was 4-5 for Wawasee, scored three runs, had a stolen base and knocked in two runners. Blaine Greer and Chase Rookstool were each 2-4. Greer had an RBI while Rookstool had a pair of RBIs.
Jacob Garcia picked up the win in relief for Wawasee giving up no hits, no runs and four hits in four and two-thirds innings of work.
Wawasee moves to 3-2 against teams in its sectional and will begin the postseason next Wednesday back at Lakeland with a game against Tippecanoe Valley in the opening round of the sectional.
Wawasee closes the regular season at 7-19-1.
JV Softball
The Wawasee JV softball team held its tournament Saturday morning and split its two games.
Wawasee beat John Glenn 16-4 in the first game before falling 13-11 to Northfield in the championship.
Leah DeSomer had a home run in the morning game for the Warriors.
Wawasee closes its season at 13-6.

The Wawasee JV baseball team split its games in its tournament Saturday morning.
Wawasee lost the first game to Wabash 10-6 then rebounded for a 20-8 victory over Tippecanoe Valley.
No stats were provided for either game.
Wawasee closes the season with a 7-15 record.
