Wilson Heading To Taylor On Track Scholarship
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior high jumper Luke Wilson has soared to great heights with the Tiger track and field program, and the senior regional qualifier will continue his high jumping career at Taylor University after signing a letter of intent this week.
Wilson, a two-time honorable mention All-State Academic performer, led the Warsaw high jump efforts this season and helped the Tigers to the Northern Lakes Conference crown, the squad’s fifth-straight sectional championship, qualifying for the regional among the regional team championship.
Wilson also performed at a high level in the classroom as well, reaching an 11.7 grade point average, earning an Excellence Award in theater, and was a state qualifier for Business Professionals of America. Additionally, Wilson was also a member of the Students For Life group at WCHS, and he played two years with the Tiger boys basketball program.
A member of his church youth group, Wilson had a tremendous impact in the community through his opportunities for service work, assisting with a number of mission organizations including Feed My Starving Children and the Community Garden.
Wilson intends to major in Mathematics at Taylor University and compete for the Trojans track and field squad under coach David Neville. Taylor is a member of the NAIA and the Crossroads League.
