Reed Soars To Fifth At State Finals
BLOOMINGTON – Kaitlyn Reed soared to a spot back on the awards podium Friday night.
The Whitko High School high jumper notched a fifth-place finish in the State Finals held at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the Indiana University campus.
Reed, a junior, cleared 5-5 in the meet to earn her place on the podium for the second straight year. She placed ninth at the State Finals in 2015 with a jump of 5-4.
Reed entered competition Friday night seeded 13th with a number of other jumpers at 5-4, the height she cleared last week to place third in the Kokomo Regional.
Reed, who was also the top sprinter for the Wildcats, claimed a sectional title at Rochester with a personal best jump of 5-6, which tied the school record.
Munster junior Corwin Erwin claimed the high jump title by cleaning 5-8 Friday night.
