Mangas, Secrest In Exhibition Action For All-Stars
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Junior All-Star basketball teams, which includes Kyle Mangas of Warsaw and Anne Secrest of Tippecanoe Valley, will play in exhibition games this week.
The Junior All-Stars will face the Senior All-Star teams in exhibition games Tuesday night at Bloomington South High School and then on Thursday evening at Lebanon High School. The games will be in preparation for the Senior teams to face Kentucky in the annual two-game series set for Friday and Saturday.
Mangas and Secrest are each part of the North group for the Juniors. The pair will play in the game on Thursday night at Lebanon. The Junior girls’ team also includes Daily Sullivan and Nicole Konieczny of South Bend St. Joseph.
Mangas was his team’s top scorer and helped lead Warsaw to conference, sectional and regional championships this past season. Secrest, who has committed to play at Youngstown State University, led the Vikings in both scoring and rebounding as the Vikings won conference and sectional titles during the 2015-16 campaign.
Parker Hazen of Columbia City is also a member of the Junior North group.
NorthWood boys basketball coach Aaron Wolfe is one of the assistant coaches for the Senior All-Star team. Tony Steak, the girls coach at Rochester, is one of the coaches for the junior girls’ squad.
The exhibition games will both begin with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. Admission at both venues is $6 per person.
The Indiana-Kentucky All-Star games will be played Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis with the girls’ game at 5 p.m., followed by the boys contest. The teams will then play on Saturday at Bellarmine University in Louisville with the girls’ game at 1 p.m., followed by the boys game. Tickets will be available at both venues.
