2016 TYM5K Raises Over $28,000
WINONA LAKE – The 2016 Tracey Yeager Memorial 5K Run/Walk, held on Memorial Day in Winona Lake, announced a donation of $28,334 to the Tracey’s Trails Fund, designated for building, improving, and maintaining areas for outdoor family recreation and fitness throughout Kosciusko County. The event has raised over $100,000 for the community since 2011.
Tracey Yeager graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1990 and served as a Naval Officer flying CH-46 helicopters, retiring in 1999 to pursue her calling as a wife and mother of three. Though cancer took her life in 2010, Tracey lived as a model of faith, strength, and courage, inspiring those around her. Because of Tracey’s passion for faith, family, friends, fitness, and fellowship, the Memorial Day 5K was created to honor her legacy.
The 2016 TYM5K also incorporated an outreach on behalf of Fellowship Missions. The outreach, Soles for Souls, received an estimated 120 pairs of shoes and 100 pairs of new socks donated by local residents, organizations and businesses. Collected items will be used to benefit homeless and at-risk families, adults, and children in the Warsaw and Winona Lake communities.
TYM5K T-shirts are still available at the SYM Financial Advisors Winona Lake office, 801 Park Avenue, Winona Lake. Any registered participants who did not receive a shirt may pick one up during normal business hours. Additional shirts are available for a donation of any amount to the Tracey’s Trails Fund.
