INDIANAPOLIS – The end of the line came for the final two Northern Lakes Conference competitors in the IHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament Friday afternoon. Elkhart Memorial junior Krystal Grubb and the Plymouth one doubles tandem of sophomore Mackenzie Scheetz and junior Kendall Dreibelbis were eliminated in state quarterfinal matches at Park Tudor High School.

Grubb, who went 20-1 this season and helped her team to sectional and regional championships, finally lost her first match of the season to Providence freshman Halli Trinkle 6-1, 6-1. Trinkle will move onto the state semi-finals against Indianapolis Cathedral’s Maeve Koscieski (17-0), who dropped Lake Central’s Kristi Tinsley 6-1, 6-4.

In the doubles tournament, Plymouth’s doubles pairing ran into a wall against Fort Wayne Carroll’s Dana Huck and Mia Toscos in a 6-0, 6-2 result. Plymouth’s team ends at 19-2 overall and won seven matches in the state tournament before bowing out. Carroll’s team, with freshman Toscos and senior Huck, will meet Guerin Catholic’s Ashley Jonathan and Reiley Harrington after the Catholic pair beat Terre Haute South.
