S-W Chamber Plans To Become Hub Of Community Information
SYRACUSE — Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce has long been a place to go to find information about what is happening in Syracuse, including at local businesses. To further that mission, it is sprucing up its website, www.swchamber.com, to make it an easy-to-use hub to find everything happening in Syracuse.
“We want our website to be the place to go and find out what’s happening in the community,” said Andrea Reed, the chamber’s new executive director.
Already the chamber is compiling event information, and the community has the opportunity to help them do so by submitting events through the website. Submitted events are then reviewed and fact-checked by the chamber, which then adds the event to its community calendar.
The chamber’s calendar also allows visitors to narrow down their search, according to Reed. “If they are only going to be here one weekend, they can narrow it down to those dates.”
Additionally, they can narrow their search down by category: community events, festivals, chamber events, arts and cultural events, school events, service organization/nonprofit events, etc.
Community members and anyone interested in visiting Syracuse will also want to sign up for the chamber’s newsletter, which will email reminders of events while sharing what’s happening in and around the community. You can sign up for the newsletter on the chamber website.
Members of the chamber also have the opportunity to post job openings. “We hope to be the hub for jobs in the area,” Reed said, noting job seekers will also be able to see the name of their point of contact for the job in addition to their contact information.
Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce’s annual membership directory is also viewable online in case visitors to the community can’t pick one up. Reed noted physical copies of the directory can be found at the chamber office, 108 E. Main St., Syracuse. They can also be picked up at many area businesses and other popular places around town.
Reed noted they hope to complete many user-friendly updates to the website, so keep checking back to see what is new. Also like the chamber on Facebook.Syr
