Racquets For Riley On The Horizon
WARSAW – It’s cause is worth the potential of it being a super scorcher.
The third annual Racquets For Riley is set to take place Saturday, July 9, at the Warsaw Community High School tennis courts. Put together by WCHS graduate Camille Kerlin, the tennis benefit raises money and awareness for the Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund as well as Riley Children’s Hospital.
The fundraiser has had an overwhelming success rate in its first two years. Beginning in 2014, the event plus its local sponsorships brought in over $12,000, only to outdo itself last summer by taking in almost $15,500.
Kerlin, a 2015 WCHS graduate and current student at Indiana University, was a member of the WCHS tennis program. Suffering from a nearly fatal heart condition as a child, Kerlin was a patient at Riley and continues to live with health conditions but has made a miraculous recovery. Deciding to give back to the organization that saved her life, Kerlin has been able to donate to Riley’s Children Hospital with the direct intention to help children with the same needs as her.
Registration fee for the event is $25 per adult, whether a singles or doubles player, which affords one hour of court time in play. Children 12 and under are $15 for an hour. All registered participants signed up before July 5 will receive an event shirt. The event starts at 9 a.m. and continues until all players have finished.
