Public Input Wanted For Neighborhood Streetscape
BY TIM DOMBROSKY
Warsaw Assistant City Planner
WARSAW —If selected as a Stellar Community, one of Warsaw’s Stellar plans would be to create a buffer that protects homes from some of the impacts of existing industries.
The early industries of Warsaw helped build strong neighborhoods. Having jobs close to homes is not a new idea. As environmental concerns grown, communities are trying to find ways to protect resident’s quality of life while keeping major employers. This project will target the areas between homes and manufacturers for screening and beautification. Improvements could include landscaping, trees, fencing, lighting and greening alleys. In addition to buffering, this project could complete sidewalk links to allow for easier connections between neighbors.
The goal is to improve quality of life in the neighborhood by screening incompatible uses and making sidewalk connections. The city plans to do this by creating a buffer between houses and industries, adding sidewalk connections through the neighborhood and beautifying the side streets.
To provide input for what you would like to see in this project, contact the City of Warsaw Planning Department office at (574) 372-9550. For more information on the Stellar Community’s Projects check out the Facebook page.
