Martial Arts Demonstration
Rochester Family Martial Arts will be at Bell Library at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 2. The primary purpose of Martial Arts is to develop the techniques and discipline for protection in a self-defense situation. Try your hand at breaking a board, too! You must sign up and sign a waiver form and pay $2 to break a board. Forms are available at the circulation desk. The Rochester Family Martial Arts is offering a special invitation to all kids participating in the program at Bell Library. Come join beginner classes at Rochester Family Martial Arts, 626 Main Street, Rochester.
Classes are from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first 3 classes are free. They are also offering their special 6 weeks for $69, startup fees included. Come and check out this exciting sport!
Bombs Away
Coming in July for our Summer Reading Program will be Bombs Away. If you are interested in World War II history or in the War Birds and other planes, join us at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9. Matt Hurd, owner of Bombs Away LLC Bryan, Ohio specializes in building bomb replicas, grenades, and military items for museums, aircraft owners, businesses, collectors, and has even made bomb replicas for Rihanna. Matt Hurd also attends air shows around the country portraying a bomber crewman for the World War II B-17 Bomber. He has also flown the B-17 Bomber to some of the air shows. This program is open to all ages. You do not need to sign up for this program.
Professor Steve And Ronald McDonald Coming to Bell Library
Ronald McDonald will be here at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 and Professor Steve will be here at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16. Join us for these entertaining programs.
Akron Area Arts League Painting Class
The Akron Area Arts League will be hosting an art program for kids ages eight to fifteen. This program runs from 9 a.m. through noon, Monday through Thursday July 18-21. The Kid’s Art Show will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 21. Parents and family are welcome to come enjoy what the kids created all week. Artwork will be sent home after the show. Cost for this program is $25 and includes all materials. Class size is limited to 20 and you must fill out a form and send it with check to The Akron Arts League. Forms are available at the circulation desk.
Teen Summer Reading Crafts Moved to July
Teen Craft programs have been moved to July and all teen craft programs will be held at 6 p.m. The Subway Art program has been moved to Thursday, July 7. The lighted Death Star program will be Thursday, July 14. The design your own t-shirt program will be Thursday, July 21 and the 3-D butterfly shadowbox program will be Thursday, July 28.
Kid’s Summer Reading Programs
There will be movies at 1 p.m. every Monday, kid’s craft programs at 1 p.m. every Wednesday (you must sign up for craft programs) and kids’ fitness programs at 1 p.m. every Friday.
