YORK, PA. — A Pennsylvania dad is getting kudos for a sweet photograph taken by his wife as their son sleeps in a hospital bed.

Amy Palmer posted the photo to Facebook July 5, showing her husband, Andre, curled up on a hard tile floor underneath a crib. The couple’s son, AJ, was in the hospital after suffering an asthma attack and Andre had come straight from working third shift to be with his family.

“This is a picture of a hard working man dedicated to his family!” Amy posted. “Father of the year award goes to Andre Palmer!!!”

In a post Thursday morning, July 7, Amy wrote that she was overwhelmed with emotion from the attention the photo received online.

“I took the picture because I thought what a selfless thing for my husband to do,” she wrote. “He could have went home after work, he could have asked me to get up. I would have never imagined that it would have touched so many people.”

She explained that the hospital room AJ was put in was only big enough for the crib and a chair, so Andre grabbed a pillow and curled up in the place he could find to lie down. The hospital staff didn’t even know he was there.

As for little AJ, mom says he’s doing much better and is resting at home.
