Summer Activities At The North Webster Public Library
NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Community Public Library is in full swing with lots of programs and activities for kids. The highlight next week is Sports BINGO at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20. The library has lots of prizes to give away and everyone has a chance to win. Kids of all ages enjoy it, and no one goes home empty handed.
There are still openings available for the Celebrating Birds Program with wildlife rehabilitator Maria Waltz at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 21. Kids will have opportunity to meet a live red-tailed hawk and eastern screech owl, learn about wild birds through interactive displays, examine real bird nests, and make a fun bird craft. Although all ages are welcome, the program is geared toward third grade and older. Children must be registered to attend, they can be signed up at the Youth Services Desk or by calling 574-834-7122 ext. 202.
Friday, July 15 will be busy with Make It/Take It Craft Day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kids can stop by the Youth Department to make a pinwheel spinner craft or take one home to complete. Echo the therapy dog also returns that day from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Children have the opportunity to schedule a 15-minute reading session with this lovable canine companion. Only eight appointments are available on a first come/first serve basis. Appointments can be scheduled by stopping by or calling the Youth Services Department.
The kids aren’t the only ones having fun at the library. People who enjoy writing meet for Writer’s Corner at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 18. Their writing assignment will be to write a letter to a famous or infamous person. Everyone will share what they have written and encourage one another in developing their writing skills.
Then at 5:30 that day, R.E.A.D. (Read, Eat And Discuss) Book Club meets to discuss The House of a Thousand Candles by Meredith Nicholson. Next month’s selection will be The Amish Midwife by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould, an inspirational novel about a nurse-midwife’s search for identity. Stop by the Circulation Desk next week, pick up a copy, and join us for the August discussion on the third Monday of the month.
Every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. it’s dancing for fun and fitness during Let’s Move. Learn new dance steps, get a great workout and have fun doing it.
