Carolyn Sue Rickel Leedy
Carolyn Sue Rickel Leedy, 81, passed away Feb. 4, 2016, in Piedmont Henry Hospital, Stockbridge, Ga. She was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Claypool, to Mahlon and Stella Parker Rickel. In December 1966, she married William “Buck” Leedy, who preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a cheerleader and 1952 graduate of Burket High School. She worked as an office manager for several different companies including Clausing Inc., Warsaw, Reynolds Aluminum and Union Oil Co., in the Chicago, Ill. area, before moving to Jonesboro in 1985 to work for a private fuel distribution of Union Oil, retiring in 2000. She was a member of American Legion Post Auxiliary, Warsaw.
Her cats gave her enjoyment after Buck died. She was an avid bowler and loved to play cards. She became a Braves, Falcons, and Georgia Tech fan after her move to Georgia. She loved her Indiana teams when they weren’t playing in Atlanta team.
Surviving are three stepchildren: David (Diana) Leedy, Mt. Kisco, N.Y.; Stanley (Jane) Leedy; and Julie (Dan) Caudill, all of Warsaw; three stepgrandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-stepgrandchild. “Sue” will be greatly missed by her six nephews; two nieces; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Forest; Marshal; and Jim (Hub); two sisters: Icel Rickel Harper; and Annabell Rickel Short; and two nieces: Nancy Rickel Carson; and Lynette Rickel Tenace.
Services were May 17 with family and friends. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, with the Rev. Gerry Rickel, nephew and pastor in Beltimore, Md., officiating.
