Wava Maxine Roy
Wava Maxine Roy, 94, Topeka, left her home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2016. She was born on March 16, 1922, in LaGrange County, the daughter of Harry Franklin and Amelia Melinda (Ramer) Wiard. On Aug. 7, 1947, she married Bernard Roy; he preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1984.
She is survived by four children: Linda Kay (Randol) Seniff, Carmel; Fred (Linda) Roy, Ligonier; Laure (Mike) Cunningham, Topeka; and Lisa (Lyn) Stutzman, Topeka; seven grandchildren: Kristina Roy-McDonald; Nicole (Brian) Loggins; Justin (Amanda) Cunningham; Karisa (Michael) Estleman; Bradley (Beth) Stutzman; Jarod Cunningham; and Jenna (fiance Quinn Groff) Cunningham; ten great-grandchildren: Bryce; Beatrice; Meagan; Cameron; Landon; Olivia; Laci; Elliot; Avalyn; Austynn; along with two great-grandchildren on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson: Scott F. Roy; and three siblings: Margaret Sams; Franklin Wiard; and Alvin Wiard.
Wava retired from the United States Post Office in Topeka after over 20 years of service. She was also a member of Topeka Baptist Church for nearly 70 years where she served faithfully in various capacities over the years, most importantly in prayer. Wava was very talented, hardworking, and determined, mowing her own yard until she was 91. She loved to garden, sew, and more than anything spend time with her family and spoil them with her cooking.
A funeral service in Wava’s honor will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Topeka Baptist Church, Topeka. Pastors Lyn Stutzman and Mark Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery, Topeka.
Family and friends will be received at Topeka Baptist Church from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, and also one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday, July 20. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Youth Group at Topeka Baptist Church.
