Rochester Man Suffers Traumatic Injury From Shooting Tannerite
ROCHESTER — On July 24, at approximately 6:33 p.m. emergency personal were dispatched to 1448 E. CR400S, in Fulton County in reference to a 36-year-old male subject with a traumatic injury to his arm and neck.
The injuries were sustained from debris caused by shooting at an exploding target called Tannerite, with a high powered rifle. The Tannerite was placed in a discarded appliance which in turn when exploded threw shrapnel causing his injuries. Christopher Gualtieri, of Rochester, was given life saving measures at the scene by Rochester Fire and Rescue and Lutheran EMS. He was then flown from the scene by Samaritan Air Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Sheriff Sailors would like to remind everyone that when using firearms and Tannerite to use extreme caution and follow manufacturer’s instructions and safety precautions.
Assisting the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation was Fulton County 911 dispatch, Indiana State Police, Rochester Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and Samaritan.
