Monty G. Lackey-UPDATED
Monty G. Lackey passed away just after midnight on June 19, 2016, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was 73 years old.
Although he had lived in the area of Warsaw, most of his life, he was born in Rochester, on April 13, 1943. He was the son of Robert Lackey and Mary Lou (Fisher) Lackey.
Monty served with the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He was also a self-employed landscape contractor.
Survivors include his mother: Mary Lou (Sammie Vickers) Laurino, Warsaw; stepmother: Norma Lackey, Silver Lake; two daughters and sons-in-law: Heather (Liberty) Reichert, Bourbon; and Kisten (Larry) Born, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael (Lynn) Lackey, Warsaw; Dewey (Dee) Lackey, Florida; Dan (Deb) Lackey, Claypool; and Nick (Nancy) Laurino, Indianapolis; six sisters and four brothers-in-law: Charlene (Brad) Witham, Mentone; Kathy Cutler, Warsaw; Jane Lackey, Akron; Renee (Charlie) Gibson, Warsaw; Toni (Kevin) Wilson, Warsaw; and Peggy (Earl) Marsilett, Warsaw; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Monty was preceded in death by his father: Robert Lackey.
A graveside service celebrating the life of Monty Lackey will be held at Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery, at 1 p.m. Friday, August 5. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
The family has asked that memorial gifts in Monty’s memory be directed to a charity of the donor’s choosing or that simple acts of kindness be done for others.
