KOSCIUSKO – The Indiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances that surround an officer involved shooting Wednesday evening in North Webster.
Around 6 p.m. police received a 911 call of a possible road rage incident that started near the train tracks on SR 13 in Syracuse. The incident between the two vehicles continued for nearly ten miles as they raced south into the town of North Webster. It was reported that the subject driving a gray 2003 Dodge pickup was shooting a gun at the occupants of a gray 2000 GMC Yukon he was pursuing.
The incident ultimately ended when the driver of the pickup crashed into a building at the intersection of Huntington Street and Main Street. As Kosciusko County Deputy Sheriff Don McCune, attempted to approach the scene an encounter with the driver led McCune to discharge his weapon at the individual striking him once. The facts and circumstances surrounding the shooting and damage to McCune’s police vehicle are being investigated.
The man that was shot has been identified as 24-year-old Alexander D. Jackson of Milford. Jackson was hospitalized for a gunshot wound and injuries he received in the crash. His current condition is unknown.
Deputy McCune was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released for injuries he received in the incident.
The driver of the GMC Yukon that was being chased by Jackson has been identified as Nathaniel K. Boyer, age 25, of New Paris. Neither Boyer nor his passenger was injured in the incident.
The investigation is expected to take several weeks before a completed case can be turned over to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, commented ISP Sgt. Trent Smith.
