Alice Marie Schlemmer, 93, Ligonier, passed away at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.

She was born on July 9, 1923, to Charles and Mary Etta (Speaker) Amick in Albion. On Oct. 5, 1938, Alice married Richard Dale Schlemmer. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1989.

Surviving are her son: Calvin (Susan) Schlemmer, Angola; four daughters: Patty Fisel, Ligonier; Jeannie (Bill Adair) Gibson, Middlebury; Linda (Michael) Hamlin, Churubusco; and Nancy (Joe) Brown, Syracuse; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Helen Galloway, Kimmell;

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-laws, Tom Fisel and Chester Gibson; two grandchildren, Timothy Dale Black and Richard Marc Fisel; four sisters, Viola Wilson, Margaret Knox, Betty Carpenter and Mary Hatfield; one brother, Harold Amick; and one half-brother, James Amick.

A funeral service will be held in Mrs. Schlemmer’s honor on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN, 46767. Pastors Lawrence Byrnes and Dick Carpenter will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
