Warsaw Girls Golf: Ray The Newest Member Of The Club
KENDALLVILLE – Warsaw continued its ascent on the girls golf path, shooting a 387 to take fifth at Saturday’s East Noble Invite at Noble Hawk Golf Links.
Warsaw, which has dramatically improved its team and personal scores from a year ago, bested its 2015 invite score by 22 strokes. Izzy Ray of the Tigers hit a personal mark, shooting a career-best 99 in her first scorecard under triple digits.
Madi Graham led Warsaw with an 89, Page Desenberg had a 97, Madelyn Ray shot at 102 and Delaney Wihebrink finished at 109.
DeKalb won the tournament with a sparkling 334, only to be chased closely by Fort Wayne Dwenger, which ended up just one stroke off the pace at 335. Warsaw’s Northern Lakes Conference rival Concord took third with a 355 as the Minutemen continue to enjoy their resurgence.
DeKalb’s Lexy Stuckey led the field with a four-over 74, with teammate Bayley Stuckey and Dwenger’s Sarah Frazier tied for second at 79 and Concord’s Elise Boessler fourth at 81.
Huntington North (368), Plymouth A (395), Bishop Luers (405), Elkhart Central (409), Goshen (471) and Plymouth B (515) round out the team scoring. East Noble and Jimtown each had individuals only in the tournament.
Warsaw is next scheduled to golf Monday at the Fort Wayne Canterbury Invite at Chestnut Hills.
