Caro Leads Cubs To Victory
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Roberto Caro tripled and singled as the South Bend Cubs defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods 3-2 on Tuesday.
Jared Cheek got Brett Sullivan to fly out with runners on first and second to end the game for his third save of the season.
South Bend started the scoring in the second when it crossed the plate for three runs, including an RBI triple by Caro and an RBI single by Carlos Sepulveda.
After Bowling Green scored a run in the second on a double by Peter Maris, the Hot Rods cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when Sullivan hit an RBI single, scoring Zacrey Law.
South Bend left-hander Ryan Kellogg (7-7) picked up the win after allowing one run on just three hits over five innings. Opposing starter Eduar Lopez (3-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game after giving up three runs and four hits over five innings.
With the win, South Bend improved to 10-5 against Bowling Green this season. The two teams get back at it Wednesday evening.
