Sandra York
Sandra Stayton York, 78, Plymouth, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at her home with her family at her side.
Sandra was born May 18, 1938, in Argos, to Willard “Pete” and Virginia (Hessler) Stayton. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She and her husband, Don, spent winters in Florida and she owned Sandy’s Café, Argos, for many years. Sandra loved cooking, garage sales, and was known for her many collections. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved to spend time with them and will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
Sandra became the bride of Donald York on Oct. 20, 1956. He survives along with their children: Karen (David) Denny, Plymouth; and Gary (Shannon) York, Indianapolis; three grandchildren: Lindsey; Austin; and Emily; along with her new great-grandson: Miles. Other family members are her two sisters: Carol (George) Shoemaker, Argos; Mary Cooper; and her brother: Bill (Ruth) Stanton, Plymouth. Sandra was preceded in passing by her parents; daughter: Peggy; son: Richard L.; and brother: Lynn Stayton.
A funeral service in honor of Sandra will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, in the Van Gilder Funeral Home, with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Sandra’s brother-in-law, Pastor George Shoemaker, officiating. Burial will follow in the New Oakhill Cemetery.
The York family will receive friends at a visitation from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, in the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth.
