2016 Deer Task Force Training
WARSAW — This year’s Deer Task Force training will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Only veteran archers in the Deer Task Force program may apply to participate in the 2016 reduction effort. Veteran DTF archers are defined as being “Archers who have successfully participated in the reduction effort for a minimum of one year since the inception of the program.”
The program has been able to maintain a core group of committed archers in the program the past several years. They believe this group of veteran DTF archers is large enough, they know and follow the strict guidelines, and they have a proven track record of safely taking deer in our declared reduction zones.
Adding new members into the program has been very positive, but new members require more training and oversight which puts an increased burden on our dedicated volunteers and the administrative team at the WPD. Members will evaluate the impact this “only veterans may apply” policy has on the program after the 2016 reduction effort.
The program will have only one day for training this year. Due to very low numbers on our Saturday training time the past few years. This year’s training session will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Warsaw Police Department.
More information, forms, & applications for veteran DTF archers about our deer reduction program for 2016 may be obtained on the city website, under the police Department page.
