Triton Sports Wrap: Aug. 18
Boys Tennis
The first win of the season just eluded Triton Thursday evening, losing at Rochester 3-2.
Mace Eads got the win at one singles for the Trojans, beating Justin Phoun 6-3, 6-1 and Carter Kuntz added a win at three singles, taking care of David Sayger 6-3, 6-4.
Rochester picked up the remainder of the courts, led by Zac Dishon’s love-love romp of Aaron Stichter at two singles and Ean Pugh and Austin Utter’s love-love one doubles run of Grant Eib and Keygan Moiser. Zebra two doubles duo of Chase Brown and Carlton Mullet beat Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules 6-1, 6-1.
Rochester claimed wins on all three JV courts. Rochester moves to 1-0 on the varsity season while Triton falls to 0-3.
The Trojans will next play Saturday in the Marian Invite.
Volleyball
Triton moved to 2-0 on the season with a three-game win at Oregon-Davis. The Trojans prevailed 25-22, 28-26, 25-22 over the Bobcats.
Courtney Jennings had a breakout game on the edge, hammering home a career-best 18 kills to lead Triton. Nicole Sechrist pitched in 12 kills and four aces from the service line, Hannah Wanemacher recorded 32 assists and Quinn Downing was a stone wall with 21 digs.
Triton will put its undefeated mark on the line when it hosts Rochester Monday evening.
