Anne K. Schafer
Anne K. Schafer, 98, New Carlisle, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 19, in Hamilton Grove Community, New Carlisle. She was born Sept. 16, 1917 in Lincoln, Neb., to the late George and Margaret (Lieder) Dies.
In 1937 in Nebraska, Anne married Jacob J. Schafer, who preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 1995.
Anne is survived by two sons: Kenneth (Kathy) Schafer, Mishawaka; and Donald (Gail) Schafer, Ft. Myers, Fla.; as well as 13 grandchildren: Pam (Dan) Gadacz, West Coco Beach, Fla.; Doug (Angel) Schafer, Lakeland, Fla.; Jill (Josh) Hyde, Viera, Fla.; Tracy (Randal) Miller, Carmel; Kim (Tim) Hubbard, Zionsville; Brianna Schafer, Indianapolis; Ron Schafer; Donna Marie Ziegert; and Kelly (Rick) Jaworski, all of South Bend; Jeff Schafer; and Todd Schafer, Lafayette; Brent (Sherry) Schafer; and Jane (Brian) Chubb, all of Plymouth. Anne is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother: Richard Dies. She was preceded in death by two sons: Ronald; and Richard Schafer; one granddaughter: Amanda Schafer; as well as two sisters; and five brothers.
Anne briefly worked at Heart, Shafner and Marks during her younger years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in church events.
Funeral services for Anne will be held noon Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the Emmaus Lutheran Church, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Friends may visit with the family for two hours prior to services on Wednesday in the Emmaus Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Anne may be Emmaus Lutheran Church, South Bend.
