Parade And Ceremony Planned To Commemorate Sept. 11
WARSAW — A ceremony and parade will be held to remember the events taken place on 9-11.
The ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at the 9-11 memorial in front the Center Lake Pavilion. The ceremony is titled, “The Day America Cried.”
The ceremony will incorporate various groups and people in the community to commemorate Sept. 11. The Indiana Guard Reserve will present the colors. Bruce Lippe will sing the national anthem. The 715 Boy Scout Troop and the Cub Scout Pack 3736 will be leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Kevin Kyle will lead a patriotic medley. Other songs will be sung and a moment of silence will be observed for those who gave their lives on 9-11.
Following the ceremony will be a parade through Warsaw. The parade “Celebrating Freedom” is expected to commence after the ceremony around 3:30 p.m. Fire trucks, police and ambulances will participate. Organizations and people of the community are encouraged to register their own floats. Floats must be decorated to coincide with the patriotic and freedom theme of the parade. No political floats will be allowed. 9-11 committee Co-chair Mike Cox added people can use their old tractors or hot rods in the parade.
A 9-11 committee co-chairs Mike Cox and Kathy Reed have been holding ceremonies to remember 9-11 since 2002. Cox encourages community members to come out and participate in the ceremony.
“It’s something we all need to remember,” said Cox.
