KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Kosciusko County is among the 121 northern Indiana communities to receive road and bridge funding from the Indiana Department of Transportation. Combined, the communities are receiving $51 million through the State’s Community Crossings matching grant fund.

Kosciusko County accepted the award for $997,028 today, Thursday, Aug. 25. Members of the INDOT Fort Wayne district personally delivered the grant money to all communities awarded in Kosciusko and Elkhart County.

“It’s about getting together and celebrating a little bit,” said Doug Burgess, capital program management director of the Fort Wayne district. “We rarely get a chance to stop in and say hi.”

Kosciusko County will use the money to fund three projects. The projects consist of 5 miles on County Farm Road from CR 200S to CR 700S, 1.5 miles on CR 350W from Old 30 to US 30 and 2.1 miles on Old 15 between Levi Lee Road and Armstrong Road.

The projects have until June 30, 2017, to be finished. An official start date hasn’t been announced yet, as there is still paperwork to be finished through INDOT.

“To be able to get 100 percent of what we asked for is incredible to be able to get our projects off the ground,” said Bob Conley, county commissioner.

Along with the funding for Kosciusko County, Warsaw received $720,346, Winona Lake received $311,873.08. Milford received $41,911.62, Leesburg received $34,719.50 and Bremen received $163,410.
