BOURBON — Triton Elementary School has been awarded the Project Produce Grant through the Chef Ann Foundation for the 2016-2017 school year.

Grant funds can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for all students to try. Triton plans to use the funds for “Lunchtime Adventures With Farrah Fruit and Reggie Veggie.” The program will take place approximately twice a month on Pizza Tuesdays.

As part of the lunch adventure, all students will receive a sampling of a fresh fruit or vegetable and will participate in a short survey. To get students excited about trying a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, fun facts will be shared and all students who try the new fruit or vegetable will receive a sticker.

A grand prize will be awarded to the grade that samples the most fruits and vegetables throughout the school year.
