Triton Football: Wheels Fall Off
BOURBON – It looked for a while like Triton might pull one of the bigger upsets in week two. Trailing just 13-11 to state-ranked LaVille, Triton couldn’t keep pace with the Lancers in an eventual 55-18 final Friday night.
James Snyder punched the ball home in the second quarter to pull the Trojans within two points after his own two-point conversion. From there, however, it was all LaVille.
Mason Leed scored his second rushing touchdown to give the Lancers a 20-11 lead heading into the break, and the third quarter became the Ethan Kertai Show. The stud back for No. 12 LaVille galloped home for scores of 65, 25 and 65 yards, turning the tables quickly in LaVille’s favor.
Ryan Martin added scores of one and 25 yards in the fourth quarter before Max Slusser finally broke the chain for Triton, running one in from 15 yards out.
Leed scored the first touchdown of the game from four yards, and Kertai had his first of the four scores to open the second quarter, a 40-yard run.
Zac Pitney had a 32-yard field goal for Triton.
The Trojans (0-2) will host No. 3 Pioneer (2-0) next Friday.
