Crawford, Loons Shut Out Cubs
SOUTH BEND – Leonardo Crawford and four other pitchers combined for a shutout as the Great Lakes Loons beat the South Bend Cubs 2-0 on Sunday.
Shea Spitzbarth got Carlos Sepulveda to fly out with a runner on second to end the game for his fifth save of the season.
Crawford (3-1) picked up the win after he struck out two and walked one while allowing two hits over four scoreless innings. Duane Underwood (0-1) went 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and five hits in the Midwest League game. He also struck out five and walked two.
Great Lakes scored its runs when Luke Raley and Erick Meza hit RBI singles in the first and third innings.
Saige Jenco tripled and doubled, scoring two runs in the win.
South Bend was held off the scoreboard for the seventh time this season, while the Great Lakes staff recorded its 11th shutout of the year.
