Valley Sports Wrap: Aug. 30
Volleyball
Tippecanoe Valley’s volleyball program blew through Peru Tuesday night, winning both varsity and JV contests in straight sets. Valley won the JV 25-6, 25-24 and the varsity won 25-14, 25-22, 25-15.
Sophie Bussard paced the varsity with eight kills and two blocks, Shayleigh Shriver had seven aces, Abby Betten dug eight attempts and Taneisha Brown recorded 14 assists.
Sarah Myers had 11 assists and two aces in the JV match, Allison Betten had four digs, and both Rachael Randall and Gabby Olson had five kills.
The Vikings (6-3, 1-1 TRC) will host Maconaquah Thursday night.
Girls Golf
Tippecanoe Valley’s girls golf team was defeated Tuesday night against both Maconaquah and host Rochester at Round Barn. Maconaquah shot a 202 to best Rochester’s 214 and Valley’s 224.
Valley had Victoria Biddle lead the group with a 46, followed by a 56 from Makayla Sandbakken, a 59 from Blake McBrier, a 63 from Brianna McBrier and a 66 from Jordan Krotke.
Match medalist was Rochester’s Kinley Lingenfelter, who shot a two-over 38 on her home course.
Valley (4-11) will host Southwood at Round Barn Thursday afternoon.
Boys Tennis
The Tuesday night matchup with Valley and Peru was rained out. The makeup date will be Tuesday, Sept. 13, with a 5 p.m. start time at Tippecanoe Valley.
The Vikings will travel to Knox Wednesday and host LaVille Thursday.
Boys Soccer
Manchester overwhelmed the Valley soccer team Tuesday, winning 4-0. Harley Kruschwitz had a goal and two assists while Brandon Wagoner, Caleb Stout and Fermin Guerrero all added a goal each. Jake Schannep had two assists.
Levi Hicks picked up the shutout, making two saves for the Squires. Manchester outshot Valley 33-7, 19 of those shots on target.
Valley (2-3, 1-2 TRC) will compete in Saturday’s Plymouth Invite.
