Grace Professor Releases New Jeremiah Study
WINONA LAKE — Dr. Matthew Harmon, professor of New Testament Studies at Grace College & Seminary, recently wrote “Jeremiah: A 12-Week Study” in conjunction with the Knowing the Bible series. The study was published on July 31 by Crossway Books.
The Knowing the Bible series is designed to help readers understand and apply biblical truth. “The book of Jeremiah produces endurance and deepens our hope,” said Harmon. “It shows us the fullness of God’s character, the depth of our sinfulness, the power of our Savior and the riches of the new covenant.” Harmon addresses these four areas in his book. The 12-week study leads readers through Jeremiah by highlighting key biblical themes, clarifying crucial doctrines and withdrawing personal applications.
“Jeremiah: A 12-Week Study” can be completed in a small group setting or through individual study. Reflective questions are asked at the end of each section allowing the reader to glean personal and practical applications. Harmon explains, “As Paul said in Romans 15, ‘whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction.’ By studying Jeremiah, we will know Christ better and strengthen our hope in God.”
Harmon is also the author or editor of several books, including “She Must and Shall Go Free: Paul’s Isaianic Gospel in Galatians,” “Studies in the Pauline Epistles: Essays in Honor of Douglas J. Moo,” “Philippians: A Mentor Commentary” and “Making All Things New: Inaugurated Eschatology for the Life of the Church.” He is currently working on several projects, including commentaries on Galatians, 2 Peter and Jude. In addition to teaching at Grace College & Seminary, Harmon teaches and serves on the preaching team at Christ’s Covenant Church in Winona Lake.
