Kosciusko County Remembers 15th Anniversary of 9/11
WARSAW — Kosciusko County residents gathered together on Sunday to remember and honor the 15th anniversary of 9/11.
The ceremony, organized the Kosciusko County 9/11 Remembrance Planning Committee, was held at 2:30 p.m. in front of the 9/11 memorial in Central Park, Warsaw.
Joe Wilkey started the remembrance ceremony with the invocation. “May we all remember this day with love and compassion,” urged Wilkey.
After the invocation, the Indiana Guard Reserve presented the colors at the base of the 9/11 memorial. Bryce Lipp performed the National Anthem, followed by the Boy Scout Troop 715 and Cub Scout Pack 3736 leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
More musical performances were given by local residents. Brad Keller sang two songs, “Where Were You” and “God Bless The U.S.A.” Kevin Kyle performed a patriotic melody on his guitar.
Mike Cox was the main speaker of the event. He started his speech with the historical context along with the monetary and human damages of the day.
“That was the day where race, color, religion or politics, none of it mattered anymore,” said Cox. “We were all just Americans that day.”
The ceremony ended with a moment of silence and prayer by Ken Locke.
After the ceremony, emergency vehicles from around the county participated in a parade from Central Park to Boggs.
