Danny Bill Gallmeier Sr., 70, Syracuse, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at the IU Health Goshen Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1946 in Fort Wayne to Otto and Blanche (Witzigreuter) Gallmeier. Danny grew up in the Fort Wayne area before moving to Syracuse in 1969.

On Aug. 30, 1969 he married Patricia Denny who preceded him in 2015.

He retired from both the Syracuse Police Department after 13 years and the Wawasee Community School Corporation after 20 plus years of service. He was a US Marine Vietnam veteran. Danny was a member of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, the Milford Masonic Lodge, and the North Webster American Legion Post 253.

He is survived by his two daughters: Amy (Travis) Ball, Syracuse and Cynthia (Christopher) Hochstetler, Howe. One son: Danny (Shadow) Gallmeier Jr., Churubusco. Five grandchildren; one sister: Carolyn (David) Mueller, Fort Wayne.

He was preceded by his wife, parents, one sister and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel with Pastors Brad Cox and Harlan Steffen officiating.
